Shanghai Jiao Tong University

In 1896, the Nanyang Public college (南洋公學) was based in Shanghai by associate degree imperial edict issued by the Guangxu Emperor, underneath the Business and Telegraphs workplace of the imperial government. Four faculties were established: a traditional college, a college of foreign studies, a lyceum, and a highschool. In 1918, the republic government based the varsity of Management. In 1920, the govt Institute of Technology of the Communications Ministry incorporated with 2 different schools and altered its name to Nan principle faculty of Chiao angiospermous tree.

In the Thirties, it had been achieved laurels for nurturing high engineers and scientists and was noted because the "Eastern MIT".

In 1938, the Ministry of Education took over the university and renamed it to National Chiao angiospermous tree University (Chinese: 國立交通大學) (the separate establishment of National Chiao angiospermous tree University in Taiwan, continues to be celebrated by this name).
